Christopher Shannon
Posted: November 07, 2011Christopher Shannon is one of the most exciting designers in current Men’s fashion. A native of Liverpool Christopher moved to London to study at the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s after gaining a scholorship. Here he studied under the tutelage of Louise Wilson who’s other proteges include Alexander McQueen, Marios Schwab and Emma Cook.
He admits that he struggled studying his BA as he was very much focussed on meanswear and the course was more focussed on drama and women’s wear.Lorem ipsum ex vix illud nonummy, novum tation. At vix scripta patrioque scribentur, at pro fugit sed et vivendo alienum maluisset. Veri equidem erat delenit nostrum ut sed. Cum harum audire nullam indoctum id eam, ius fastidii sapientem ne.
After completing his BA Christopher worked as a design assistant to the Saville Row’s Richard James and following this he was approached by Kylie Minogue’s creative Director William Baker and began working as a stylist in collaboration with Judy Blame. After spending 2 years with the Minoque team he was looking to go back to study his MA but was penniless. Luckily he got a scholarship and was able to complete the course and also began his relationship with Reebok.
Shannon’s menswear is renown for his slick take on sportswear with hints of ethnic tribal design elements and bold fabric prints. His reworking of the camouflage print featured in his SS2011 collection and he has softened the aggressive print by including floral motifs and text. As he refines his sportswear orientated aesthetic Christopher has collaborated on projects with Topman, Eastpak and Reebok.
